“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson
Sometimes a good quote catches your attention. A great quote, however, one that encompasses so many pieces that speak to you on the deepest levels, stops you dead in your tracks.
I am sure you have figured it out by now, but just to make it official, my name is Kendra and it means a lot to me that you are here.
To know me is to know my love for coffee, warm sunshine, Hawaiian things, big mountains, and every dog that walks by. To know me well is to know my deep insecurities, my odd willingness to do uncomfortable things in the name of growth, my inability to temper love and just love big, and my constant battle with working to accept compliments, be proud of who I am/how I look and acknowledge that there is a difference between graceful confidence and annoying deflection.
The quote above is one of my all-time favorites. Read it slowly and you’ll see why.
My presence here, on this personal website, is my way to show up and let my light shine.
My modeling work is a swirling culmination of the work of many talented professionals, and all the lessons I have learned up to this point. My blog is my way to peel back the curtains and help show the realness of an otherwise photoshopped product. It also provides me a way to shed some light on the struggles I have or have helped clients with, share insights or tips from my experiences as a fitness coach, and hopefully, inspire some travel and adventure-seeking if I can.
I have been a competitive athlete, a bartender, a photographer’s assistant, a soccer coach, a strength coach, a coacher of coaches, a student, and a lifestyle/fitness model.
This is me.
Thank you for being here.
